Have your cake and eat it too!

I remember vividly when my two boys were born, both were born premature, and after all the stress of the birth there was that one moment when time seemed to stand still, and everything in the universe focused on you standing in the infirmary watching them lying in the incubator struggling to live, so tiny and so small and you realize that your life has suddenly changed almost overnight, and nothing will ever be the same again. Not sure what's going on, or even what you should be doing. You feel all these responsibility's that you never dreamed even existed before, and now all of a sudden your a father.

When my daughter was born, I thought "I've had two kids, I know what to expect"  WOW!! was I ever wrong.  Sarah was born premature also, after all the complications, and the dust had settled, and the doctors said we could actually touch her, I reached in the incubator just to touch her tiny little hand, and she wrapped her little fingers around mine, and at that moment she became my daughter, my heart melted and she has had me wrapped around her little finger ever since.

So it is no small leap that when she came home last week and said that she was in charge of the food for the "Young Women in Excellence" program and "Daddy, could you please make a cake that would go with the theme "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory"....it wasn't as hard as I made it sound  that I said I would see what I could do.

Cake ingredients for a 3 tier ALL chocolate cake $40.00
Additional expenses for Cake equipment $20.00
Life is made from memories, knowing that this will be one she will always have is Priceless.

Special thanks to an Amazing wife, who made suggestions on the decorating, and who put up with a huge mess for 3 days.

Oh my gosh you even make gorgeous cakes!! So professional...let's see, you garden, can, cook, bake, the list goes on and on.

What a blessed family you have; your lovely wife, talented daughter, and two awesome sons!

Thanks for sharing Rich . . .

I really like this post Rich. I really miss you and your family, everyone brings so much joy to my life.

Not only are you lucky, all of your kids are so lucky to have such a loving, gentle father that will bake ridiculously amazing cakes and all other cool projects for them.

I have the best memories with my mom baking cakes, the losses and the successes of trying to get them to look well. I know if she were still here, the two of you cooking and decorating cakes together would be one of her favorite past times too.
